Communications

When I first joined my previous organization, each department announced their holiday hours by sending an email to the all-staff list, resulting in over 50 separate messages for 6 official employee holidays. In 2012, I proposed having a central point of contact who would collect and compile information, sharing a list of all affected departments through our all-staff email list, intranet and website.

Not content with sparing my colleagues a couple hundred emails a year, I launched our first electronic employee newsletter in 2017. The weekly newsletter replaced a monthly PowerPoint presentation; offered multimedia capabilities, targeted distribution, and measurable readership data; established a defined internal communications role at the organization; and progressively reduced the number of all-staff emails year after year.

Non-Urgent Emails Sent to All Staff in Q4

A line graph shows the number of emails sent to all staff in the fourth quarter from 2017 through 2024. Starting with 122 emails at 2017, the chart shows a steady decline through 2023, with 26 emails sent in Q4. In 2024, 29 emails were sent during Q4.

In 2016, I became a member of the emergency management team, developing experience in crisis communications, including spending over 100 days in  incident command during our 2020 pandemic response, assisting with daily staff and physician updates, and public relations. In 2021, my proven skills in communicating change were enlisted to help the organization undergo a massive transition that impacted 2,100 employees and over 140 software platforms.

I built a strong professional rapport with multiple members of our executive team, collaborating with leadership to develop community, employee, and physician messaging while maintaining their unique voices. Samples are available upon request.
