Since 1981, Barbara Weaver served as Boone County Hospital’s first female and
most popular board member. As she prepared to retire in 2015, I had the privilege of interviewing Mrs. Weaver to discuss her significant role in the organization's growth.

Pandemic Response
While managing internal communications in our incident command center in 2020, I recognized we were experiencing a moment that reflected the intentions of the hospital's founders a century ago. I wrote
a narrative of our initial response, highlighting staff across multiple areas of expertise, including infection prevention, nursing, scheduling, plant operations, social work, and leadership. I also took some of the photographs.
